Increasing your daily fiber intake can help constipation. Trying eating a lot of fresh fruits, vegetables (like corn), beans, and nuts & seeds.
Eat oatmeal, bran, or other high fiber cereals in the morning instead of eggs and bacon.
For a snack try eating yogurt with active cultures or one of the many fiber bars on the market.
Eat 3 prunes every day. Place 3 prunes in hot water for 10 minutes or more. Drink the water than eat the prunes. If you don't like how prunes taste eat them with another fruit like blueberries or strawberries.
Instead of white breads and pasta switch to whole grain or wheat ones.
Eat at least 3 tablespoons of sunflower seeds each day.
If you are going to be increasing your fiber intake you also need to increase your fluid intake to keep things moving along. Try drinking 48-64 ounces of fluid each day with the majority being water.
Try drinking decaf coffee first thing in the morning. Or a citrus drink like orange juice or hot water and lemon on an empty stomach. Also, drinking warm milk before bed can sometimes help constipation.
Prune juice does help but it is very hard to take down for most people especially while pregnant. I found eating the prunes was much easier.
Fiber supplements like Metamucil, Citrocel, and Benefiber (my favorite) can also help you when your constipated.
