Below are some things that common mother should know in order for them to keep up with the changes in their body.
• Medicines or OTC Drugs (Over the Counter Drugs) are generally not advised to any pregnant women. This is because some drug content may be harmful for your baby that can lead to miscarriage or abnormalities when they are born. It is always safe to always check first with your doctor before trying up anything.
• Avoid foods or drinks that can or may cause gastrointestinal distress. Examples of these foods are carbonated drinks, alcohol (which is a big NO during pregnancy and should be avoided), caffeine, acidic foods which are present in fruits too, processed meats, spicy or high seasoned foods or fatty foods.
• It is very important that you are aware of what you eat. Remember that you are not just living alone and a little life is also feeding whatever you are eating, so make sure that you only eat up nutritious foods.
• Try eating up lightly throughout the day instead of eating big meals. Make sure that you take time while you're eating and you chew your food thoroughly.
• It is advised to always drink eight to ten glasses of water daily, but make sure you don't drink it in large quantities just to make up with the numbers. It's not only going to distend your stomach but will also keep you urinating in every minute. Just take light sip of water between meals or within the day so you can keep up with the number of glasses needed for the day.
• Its not because your pregnant that you don't have to watch your weight. Keeping a balanced diet and staying within the guidelines will keep your body in tact with weight. It is always advised to seek doctor's advice especially on foods that you need to eat or your healthcare provider suggests maintaining a balanced weight.
• Wear loose and comfortable clothes. Make sure that you avoid any tight clothes around your tummy or waist.
• Always remember to take enough sleep or rest especially if your body needs it. Your body goes through a lot of stressful changes so it is important that you nourished it back by getting enough rest and sleep. This is also to prevent any fatigue or stress which is the main cause of miscarriages which happens most in the first stage of pregnancy.
• Just like a normal diet, it is always advised that you don't eat 3 hours before going to sleep. Not only it will stress your digestive system, but it will make you feel uncomfortable when you wake up and may cause blockages somewhere in your digestive tract.
