Pregnancy Healthy Diet

What does my body need?
It is very important which foods you choose during pregnancy. Now you must provide vitamins, minerals, and protein for you and your baby. These nutrients must meet the needs of your growing baby and get your body ready to deliver and nurse your baby. Food is the main source of these nutrients, but no one food can supply them all. Too much of one nutrient will not make up for too little of another one.
Which foods should you choose?
To help you make wise choices, foods have organized in servings:
1 serving a day: Vitamin C food
3 servings a day: Milk and cheese
3 to 4 servings a day: Meat, fish, and beans
5 servings a day: Cereals, Enriched or whole grain breads.
5 servings a day: Vegetables and fruits

Several servings a week: Vitamin A food
Use with care = Fats, vegetable oils and sweets
Weight Gain During Pregnancy:
About 25 to 35 pounds should be gained when pregnant. Your weight gain is important because it means your baby is gaining also.
Things To Avoid:
Hard Liquor, too much wine or beer as they can cause serious harm to your unborn baby. You drink, your baby drinks. Most doctors recommend that you not drink at all while you are pregnant.
Drinks and foods with caffeine should be used in moderation. Some of these are coffee, tea, chocolate, and many other soft drinks. Caffeine is a powerful stimulant which goes directly to your baby when you drink it.
