Sperm is so powerful because it has the power to create a new human being to the world. Even though a woman's egg is also required, the sperm of a man plays a crucial role in conception.
When planning a pregnancy it is important to know how the reproduction system works in both the male and female body. This is especially important if you are trying to increase your chances of getting pregnant with a boy or with a girl.
Normally, a woman's egg is released once a month. This occasion is called ovulation. Ovulation usually occurs around 10-15 days after a woman's period.
When the egg is released it is waiting for the sperm in the fallopian tube. When one sperm reaches the egg, the doors are closed for other sperm to enter, and the one that succeeded to arrive there first fertilizes the egg. Man's sperm contains either an X chromosome or a Y chromosome. Sperm that contains an X chromosome is girl sperm and sperm that contains a Y chromosome is boy sperm. While a woman produce only an X chromosome, it is a man's sperm that determines whether you are having a boy or girl baby.
If your goal is to have a baby boy you want that the sperm with an Y chromosome reaches the egg first (XY). Otherwise your baby is going to be a girl (XX).
While there is no method that will 100% guarantee that you will conceive a boy baby, there are some things you can try to increase your chances. The positioning while having intercourse may have an effect on whether the baby will be a boy or girl.
It is scientifically proven that boy sperm are faster than girl sperm. On the other hand, they are also weaker. So, you should favor positions that include as deep penetration as possible. In this way faster, but weaker, boy sperm have better chances to get to the egg before slower girl sperm.
Timing is also important when trying to conceive a boy baby. The closer you have intercourse to ovulation the higher the chances are to have a boy. If you have sex before ovulation it may increase your odds for having a girl.
