How to Know the Gender of Your Baby

Determining the gender of your baby is an exciting experience, although it is not something you can do on your own. The best way to determine the gender is by having a transabdominal ultrasound preformed by a medical professional. This test can be performed during the second trimester, and depending on the baby's position, it may need to be repeated to identify the gender. This test is not always 100% reliable, but it is the most-common gender identification test used today.
Drink 16 to 32 ounces of water during the hour before the exam to get a clear ultrasound picture.
Lie down on the padded exam table and adjust clothing as directed by the individual who is performing the ultrasound.

The ultrasound technician, radiologist, or obstetrician who is performing the ultrasound will apply a cold gel to your belly.
The person performing the exam will use the gel to rub the transducer around your belly as they identify different features of your baby's anatomy.
